Print, Photographic

Black and white photographic print depicting two images of a wet scrubbing pollution control system at the Ford River Rouge Complex. In the left image it is turned off, and in the right image is it turned on.
Caption reads: Cupola stack emissions, with and without dust collector control, make a picture of stark contrast in these "on and off" views of Ford Motor Company's Dearborn (Mich.) Specialty Foundry. The photo at left shows the system operating without its wet scrubber type dust collector. At right, the collector is in operations. Barely visible thin plumes of white smoke emanate from the foundry since three giant dust collectors, each capable of filtering 80,000 cubic feet of exhaust gases a minute on three pairs of melting cupolas, were installed at the foundry.
