Print. Black and white photographic print of a window display advertising living room furniture and interior decoration at The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store. Featured in the window display is a family of mannequins celebrating an occasion, possibly the mother's birthday. Two upholstered chairs flank an occasional table in front of the fireplace and mantle. A whatnot is visible on the left wall, displaying an illuminated lamp, a silver tea service, and pieces of china; a secondary circular three-tiered table is also displaying ornamental trinkets on the right side of the display adjacent to an upholstered and riveted chair. Floral draperies and sheers cover the two windows on either side of the mantel. Signage, visible in the central-left foreground reads, "Hudson's and House & Garden say: Live as well as you Look, Indulge your flair for the dramatic but let your taste pervade your whole scheme of living, everybody gather around… Mother is going to open her gifts; Studio of Interior Decoration, 8th Floor, Woodward… Section C." A copy of House & Garden magazine is visible in front of the sign, and a smaller sign to the left reads, "You are invited to attend our dramatic 'Live as well as you LOOK' Home Fashion Show, Mr. Richard Dillon of House & Garden ____ ____, October 13, 14, 15, 2:30 o'clock, 8th Floor, Section C."
