Print. (2 Copies.) Black and white photographic print of a window display featuring Bendix Automatic Washers at The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store. Three different styles of washers are featured in the display, including a Bendix Rollaway, a Bendix Stationary Washer which are on either side of the 2,000,000th Bendix which is adorned in glitter. Images in the rear of the display feature women completing the arduous task of laundry. Signage adjacent to the image on the left reads, "Washing was a chore for all Only a few women were fortunate enough to own a 'machine.' Most, however, continued to bend over tubs and scrub boards. Hands were roughened from strong soap and scalding water. THERE NEVER WAS ANY DOUBT THAT IT WAS WASHDAY " Also, signage affixed to the right image reads, "It remains a chose for some. Even with modern standards of living, washday continues to be a grueling task for some women. People wear and change more often. THE BURDEN OF KEEPING SO MANY WASHABLES CLEAN IS OFTEN GREATER THAN EVER!"
