One sepia-toned photograph (and one copy) of the Confirmation Class of 1919 at St. James Lutheran Church in Detroit. The photo shows four rows of older girls and boys who are seated or standing. Each is holding a Bible along with a certificate that is rolled up and tied with a ribbon. The girls are all wearing white dresses and the boys are wearing dark-colored suits. The pastor, Rev. August G. Bergener, is wearing a clerical robe and is seated at the front center of the photo. An adhesive typewritten label near the lower edge provides an alphabetical list of the names of the boys and girls who were confirmed. A painted backdrop is visible in the background. Handwritten black ink text on the verso reads "Mrs. Alice Sellars, 584-9099," and "April 13, 1919."
