One sepia-toned photograph of a Confirmation Class at St. James Lutheran Church in Detroit. The photo, dated April 16, 1916, is mounted on white matte board and shows three rows of older girls and boys who are seated or standing. Each is holding a Bible along with a certificate that is rolled up and tied with a ribbon or cord. The girls are all wearing white dresses and the boys are wearing dark-colored suits. The pastor, Rev. August G. Bergener, is wearing a clerical robe and is seated at the front center of the photo. A painted backdrop is visible in the background. An embossed label at the lower right corner reads "A. Rentschler, 206 Randolph, cor. Monroe, Detroit, Mich." Several persons in the photo are identified on a separate handwritten note as follows:
