One sepia-toned photograph of a Confirmation Class at St. James Lutheran Church in Detroit. The photo is mounted on white matte board and shows two rows of older girls and one boy who are seated or standing. Each is holding a Bible along with a certificate that is rolled up and tied with a ribbon or cord. The girls are all wearing white dresses and the boy is wearing a dark-colored suit. The pastor, Rev. August G. Bergener, is wearing a clerical robe and is seated at the front center of the photo. A painted backdrop is visible in the background. An embossed label at the lower right corner reads "A. Rentschler, 101 Gratiot Ave., Detroit, Mich." Several persons in the photo are identified on a separate handwritten note as follows:
back row, third from left - Erna Swartz; sixth from left - Louise Rimka.
front row, second from left - Florence Orlo; far right - Helen Brosofske.
