One black and white photograph of construction work that is underway for the new Civic Center redevelopment project in downtown Detroit. The view shows a steam boiler and engine (manufactured by Murray Iron Works Company of Burlington, Iowa) being lowered by a crane onto the ground. A construction worker is standing in the lower left foreground and is assisting in the placement of the boiler and engine. The Norton Hotel and various commercial buildings can be seen in the left and center background. The Guardian Building and the new City-County Building (now the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center) can be seen in the right background.
