The view shows a steam boiler and engine (manufactured by Murray Iron Works Company of Burlington, Iowa) being lowered by a crane onto a wood and steel platform. Construction workers are standing beside the boiler and are assisting in its placement. Construction cranes, pipe sections, and piles of debris can be seen in the background. The Norton Hotel and various adjacent commercial buildings can be seen in the far background. The side of the Guardian Building is visible at the far right side of the photo.
