The view looks northward and shows a large area of excavation in the foreground along with a pile driver that is being operated by a steam boiler and engine. Pipe sections, equipment, construction debris, and workmen can also be seen in the project area. The new City-County Building (now the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center) on Jefferson Avenue can be seen in the far background at the upper left and center area of the photo.
