One black and white photograph of the Merritt-Chapman & Scott Corporation construction staging area for the Lakehead Pipeline crossing of the Straits of Mackinac. The photo shows two workmen who are doing nighttime welding work on a section of steel pipeline. Tools and equipment can be seen in the foreground and a small crane is partially-visible in the background. Black ink stamps on the verso read "Merritt-Chapman & Scott Corp. Photo," and "Aug. 11, 1953." Handwritten blue ink text reads "Welding on String #3, 2500' length." The staging area was located west of St. Ignace, Michigan.
