One black and white copy photograph (and two copies) of a cross-sectional drawing of the Straits of Mackinac which shows the Lakehead Pipeline Extension that was constructed by the Merritt-Chapman & Scott Corporation. The billboard-size drawing shows the two Michigan shorelines, the lake water surface, and a bottom profile of the Straits along with a white line that depicts the pipeline. Depths are shown on a vertical axis at the left and right sides, and station numbers are shown along a horizontal axis at the bottom. Piles of miscellaneous supplies are visible below the billboard in the lower foreground. The Merritt-Chapman & Scott Corporation flag with a galloping black horse can be seen in the lower left and right corners of the drawing. The drawing was probably mounted on the base of the control tower (partially visible in the background) that was located at the project staging site. Typewritten text across the top of the photo reads "Merritt-Chapman and Scott appreciated the public interest in the spectacular Straits crossing and erected this animated billboard diagramming the project. 'Sidewalk' engineers watching the board from a specially constructed grandstand, were currently kept posted on the pipe's underwater progress."
