One black and white photograph of the Merritt-Chapman & Scott Corporation construction staging area for the Lakehead Pipeline crossing of the Straits of Mackinac. The photo shows the end of a section of steel pipeline that is resting on a floating cradle in preparation for pulling into Lake Michigan. A large steel float has also been attached to the top of the pipeline. Two workmen can be seen on the deck of a small barge at the end of the pipeline. A rip rap breakwater can be seen in the background. A black ink stamp on the verso reads "Merritt-Chapman & Scott Corp. Photo." The staging area was located west of St. Ignace, Michigan.
