One black and white photograph of the Merritt-Chapman & Scott Corporation construction staging area for the Lakehead Pipeline crossing of the Straits of Mackinac. The photo shows a section of the steel pipeline which has been brought ashore after crossing the Straits. Cables and debris can be seen on the shoreline in the foreground. A white float, lashed to the top of the pipe, can be seen in the center area of the photo. Lake Michigan and a passing freighter can be seen in the background. Black ink stamps on the verso read "Merritt-Chapman & Scott Corp. Photo" and "Sep. 20, 1953."
