One black and white photograph of the Merritt-Chapman & Scott Corporation construction staging area for the Lakehead Pipeline crossing of the Straits of Mackinac. The photo shows a group of workmen who are standing or working beside the end of the pipeline which has been brought ashore after crossing the Straits. A large float is attached to the top of the pipe that has an image of the company flag logo (a galloping horse) painted on the side. Construction cranes, cables, and a gravel road can be seen in the foreground. Gravel piles and evergreen trees are visible in the background. Black ink stamps on the verso read "Merritt-Chapman & Scott Corp. Photo" and "Sep. 20, 1953."
