One black and white photograph of the Merritt-Chapman & Scott Corporation construction staging area for the Lakehead Pipeline crossing of the Straits of Mackinac. The photo shows a group of visitors and workmen who are standing beside the end of the pipeline which has been brought ashore after crossing the Straits. A large float is attached to the top of the pipe that has an image of the company flag logo (a galloping horse) painted on the side. A crane, cables, and gravel road can be seen in the foreground. Lake Michigan is visible in the background. Black ink stamps on the verso read "Merritt-Chapman & Scott Corp. Photo" and "Sep. 20, 1953."
