One black and white photograph of the Merritt-Chapman & Scott Corporation construction staging area for the Lakehead Pipeline crossing of the Straits of Mackinac. The photo shows a section of steel pipeline that has been wrapped with a tar paper material in one area and with long strips of wood lath in another area. In addition, a large cylindrical float has been lashed to the top of the pipe. Two similarly-wrapped pipelines are visible in the background. Evergreen trees can be seen in the far background.
