One black and white photograph (and one copy) of improvements at Ashtabula Harbor, Ohio. The aerial view shows the project site in the foreground with two dredges at work and new freighter docks under construction. Existing docks, a rip rap breakwater, and Lake Erie can be seen in the background. A typewritten label along the lower edge of the photo reads "Ashtabula Harbor, Ohio - Pinney Dock and Transport Company (1955). New piers and dredging in the foreground will supplement the existing ore and coal dock facilities serving the iron and steel centers at Pittsburgh, Penna. This expansion is the forerunner of further development at other Great Lakes ports where the impact of the St. Lawrence Seaway Project will be felt." The construction work was being done by the Merritt-Chapman & Scott Corporation.
