One black and white photograph of the derrick boat, Merganser, and the tugboat, Whitefish Bay, of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The photo shows a starboard quarter view of the vessels which are holding station in one of the locks at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. The derrick boat is carrying a load of broken concrete on its foredeck. The bulk carrier, SS Paul L. Tietjen, of the Kinsman Marine Transit Company is moored in an adjacent lock in the background. A typewritten adhesive label on the verso reads "U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Mary's Canal, Soo Area Office, Derrickboat Merganser, 21 June 1971."
