One black and white photograph of a student at Children's House, an art center for children in Detroit. The photograph shows a young boy kneeling on the floor beside an electric pottery wheel. Next to him is a small pot of water. The boy is gazing down at his hands as he works with the clay. Handwritten text in blue ink on the back states, "Children's House 36 W Kirby Ave. Detroit, Mich. 5 year old boy- making pottery." Handwritten text in pencil on the verso states, "Tommy Van Veckten 'Ma father's going to Washington do arithmetic for the government'."
