One sepia-toned photograph of the first international tugboat race on the Detroit River. The center area of the photo shows three tugboats downbound on the river in fair weather. The vessel at the left is the OREGON of the Great Lakes Towing Company, and the ATOMIC of McQueen Marine, Ltd., can be seen at the center. The name of the tug in the right background is unreadable. The race was won by the ATOMIC. Many spectators can be seen on the Windsor shoreline in the background and the Ambassador Bridge is visible overhead. One spectator vessel can be seen on the river in the lower right foreground. An adhesive label with typewritten text on the verso reads "Boats - Races - Tugboats, Won by Atomic (R.C.), 5-20-50." An adjacent blue ink stamp reads "Photograph by The Detroit News, Not to Be Published."
