The Detroit Light Guard is standing at attention in a line alongside a Flint & Pere Marquette Railroad train, no. 13, which is stopped in front of a large building. The photograph is marked with text "G.F. Sterling West Bay City" on the bottom right. Hand written text on the back of the mounting reads "Military excursion Bay City, DLG Kerosene head lamp Flint & Pere Marquette, before 1900. Atlantic type Engine."
