Print. Black and white photographic print of the Self-Made Chic exhibition held in the auditorium at The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store. Men's military wear is featured, and includes an image of several paratroopers; a small sign affixed to the mannequin dressed in a paratrooper's uniform reads, "Parachute Army Uniform." Signage on the far left of the display reads, "Fabric Fashion Fair, Modern-Day Fabrics Developed for Army and Sports Use Some Treated with Fire-Repellent Liquid." Military jackets and parachute materials are featured throughout the display. Signage between two jackets, right of the mannequin reads, "Three years ago Skinner's began working with the Federal Government on fabrics for fire-fighting parachute jumpers in the forestry service Since then the company has collaborated steadily with various government branches. Now a large part of Skinner's production is going towards the Victory Campaign, -Parachute Cloth, -Flare Chute Cloth, -Tackle Twill for Paratroop Uniforms and other developments." An example of a parachute is visible on the far right of the display with signage which reads, "This Latest Type Parachute (All Silk) Made by the Reliance Manufacturing Co. Manufactures of Big Yank Work Clothes, In Cooperation with the National Defense Program, this concern is now making parachutes for the United States Air Forces." Ladies dresses and designs are visible in the background. The photographic sequence number, and photographer's name are printed on the bottom of the recto, "18575-3x; Davis B. Hillmer."
