One black and white photograph of the lobby inside the Henry and Edsel Ford Auditorium in downtown Detroit. The view looks along the main floor of the wide, curved lobby area and shows the entrance doors to the auditorium at the left side of the photo along with the upper level mezzanine walkway. Stairways can be seen in the foreground and background. The lobby entrance doors (facing E Jefferson Avenue) are partially visible in the background near the right side of the photo. The large metal wall sculpture, "Ford Empire," done by Marshall Fredericks, can be seen over the entrance doors. One man is standing on the carpeted floor in the center background. Black typewritten text along the lower left edge of the photo reads "Designer: Thomas H. Hewlett, AIA; Project: Henry and Edsel Ford Auditorium - Detroit, Michigan; Date: 1954; Authorship Color: Blue." The photo is mounted on white matte board.
