Print, Photographic
Black and white photographic print of the Book-Cadillac Hotel during its construction, as taken from the southwest corner of Cass Avenue and Michigan Avenue, facing northeast. The brick and stonework around the lower exterior of the building is in place, while exposed girders define the shape of the hotel's upper levels. Scaffolding surrounds the upper reaches of the brickwork and a crane is perched atop the building. In the foreground at street level, a group of people with their backs to the camera cross Cass. A westbound streetcar travels across Michigan Avenue. Signs for Summerfield and Hecht's furniture store, Reading Credit Clothing Company, and Finsterwald Furniture are visible on the buildings along the north side of Michigan Avenue.
"Sheraton (Book) Cadillac, Under const., Michigan & Cass 1923-1924, B4." is handwritten on the verso in pencil.
