Print, Photographic

One black and white photograph of the paint-by-number inventor/artist, Dan Robbins. The photograph shows the artist holding a paintbrush and palette as he stands in front of a large paint-by-number canvas of Palmer Paints' "Sleigh Ride." The paint-by-number artwork is partially complete and shows a horse-drawn logging sleigh in a dense forest. A typewritten adhesive label on the verso shows "Dan Robbins of the Palmer Paint Company illustrates his paint-by-numbers idea, showing sections numbered to correspond to different colors. You can learn 'Whatever Happened to Paint-By-Numbers?' at an exhibit of the same name now open through February 2001 at the Detroit Historical Museum."
