One black and white photograph of barge #1228 and the dipper dredge, T. A. Scott, of the Merritt-Chapman & Scott Corporation. The photo shows a bow view of the dredge which is working at the head of the Detroit River and is depositing excavated material into an adjacent barge. A typewritten label on the verso shows "Date of Photo: August, 1960; Contractor: Merritt-Chapman & Scott Corp.; Amount of Contract: $4,160,790.00. Dredging at the head of the Detroit River Channel to the lower end of Lake St. Clair, the 13 cubic yard dipper dredge 'T.A. Scott' is busily engaged in removing a mixture of clay, silt and sand material to provide a depth of 28.5 feet of navigable channel as part of the Great Lake connecting channels project." A black ink stamp on the verso shows "Please credit photo U.S.Army, Corps of Engineers, Detroit."
