Print, Photographic

Large black and white photographic print depicting a parade along East Jefferson Avenue near St. Antoine Street. The camera points east, from the south side of the street, toward the oncoming parade. A crowd is gathered on both sides of the street, including a boy in a hat and short pants in the foreground on the right. A uniformed man holding a baton or horn leads the approaching section of the parade. Behind him follow a flutist, and two drummers all dressed in matching open jackets, hats, and high-collared shirts. They are followed by two large groups of saber-carrying men uniformed in calf-length coats, and helmets each topped with a ball-shaped finial. On the north side of Jefferson are a meat market, C.N. Flattery, Undertaker, and the Saints Peter and Paul Church. American flags are hung from several of the businesses, and banners decorated with a floral emblem are strung along Jefferson. A moonlight tower is visible in the distance. "c.1901" handwritten on verso.
