Print, Photographic

Large black and white photographic print depicting a parade along East Jefferson Avenue near St. Antoine Street. The camera points northeast, from the south side of the street. A crowd is gathered across the street, and several people are on the roof above. A pair of uniformed men on horseback wearing helmets with plumes lead this section of the parade. Behind them a marching band uniformed in white hats, jackets, shirts, and pants with a black tie. Another man on horseback, dressed identically to the first two follows. In the distance are a large group of uniformed men in calf-length coats, and helmets each topped with a ball-shaped finial. On the north side of Jefferson are a meat market, C.N. Flattery, Undertaker, and the Saints Peter and Paul Church. American flags are hung from several of the businesses, and banners decorated with a floral emblem are strung along Jefferson, as well as on several of the buildings. "c.1901" handwritten on verso. Copy is slightly lighter.
