In the background to the east, a semi-circular pavilion extends further into the river presumably enclosing a pool. Several figures in bathing suits sit or dive from the walkway leading to the pool. A tugboat pulls a covered Pittmans and Dean Company barge past the pavilion encircling the pool. The Detroit Yacht Club is visible on the shore of Belle Isle in the background.
