Print. Black and white photographic print of a window display which features Detroit Industry at The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store. A map of the state of Michigan is affixed to the rear of the display; imagery for the industrial and developmental side of the city of Detroit is featured, and includes the Penobscot and Guardian Buildings. Signage across the front of the display reads, "Dynamic Detroit, The Heart of A Great State." Small signs notate the greatness of the city across the bottom foreground of the display, they read, from left to right, "First in Production of Adding Machines; Most Highly Industrialized State in the Union; Workers Top the Nation in Purchasing Power; Exceeds All Other States in Employment Gain Since 1929; Keeps the Payrolls Going; World's Greatest Wealth Producer; City of Great Industries; Tourist Expenditures Exceed $300,000,000 Annually; First in Production of Paints and Varnishes; Motor Capitol of the World; Seventh in Population, Third in Factory Payrolls; Leading Creator of Great Lakes Traffic; First in Production of Pharmaceuticals; First in Production of Twist Drills; First in Production of Salt; First in Production of Seeds; First in Production of Marine Engines; First in Production of Vacuum Cleaners; Highest-Paid Workers." The photographic sequence number is printed on the bottom of the recto, "18210-x."
