Print. Black and white photographic print of a window display featuring women's fashions during The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store's Sixtieth Anniversary. A female mannequin stands on an elevated platform and is dressed in a fashionable two-piece day outfit, and featured behind her is an advertisement featuring a model in the same dress from 'Vogue' Magazine. A mannequin on the left side of the display is draped in a dark velvet dress with adjacent swatches of fabric. Signage affixed to the rear of the display features an engine house and horse carriage fire engine, it reads, "Fire Fighters of '81, The Detroit Fire Department is probably as efficient as any similar organization in the world. Looking backward to 1703 and the earliest recorded burning of Ste. Anne's Church; and again to 1805 when the fire in John Harvey's bakeshop began the total destruction of every building in Detroit - we realize that great progress in fire fighting has been made. Today motor transportation plays an active part in every fire organization. Hudson's Sixtieth Anniversary." Also, smaller signage in the left foreground reads, "Anniversary Attraction Important Fabric Fashion, Cotton Twill Back Velveteen, A favorite for this season, -you'll see it about town from morn 'til night, Sale $1.49, Sixth Floor, Farmer." Signage affixed across the foreground of the display reads, "*1881* The J.L. Hudson Company's Sixtieth Jubilee Year, *1941*" The photographic sequence number, and the photographer's name are printed on the bottom of the recto, "18511-x; Davis B. Hillmer."
