A glossy, slightly green-tinted black and white photographic print depicting several businesses along Woodward Avenue taken at the Gratiot Avenue intersection. Across Woodward signs are posted for Wig Making and Hair Goods, a sewing machine store, Colby's, Gibbs Books and Stationery, Butterick's Patterns, J.M. Arnold and Co. Books and Stationery, Mrs. H. Foex, and William Bonds. The latter three businesses are in the Godfrey Block, on the right. In the foreground is a lamp post with a mailbox attached, and a sign for F. LeClerc and Bro. from which boots are hung. The impression of a horse carriage that moved through frame while the shutter was open is visible in the street. "1870s, 189 Woodward" handwritten on verso of copy along with "M-1847-1" and a "Dept. Report & Info. Comm." stamp. "W. side Woodward, Gratiot, & Grand River c.1875" handwritten on verso of copy. Colors of the copy are more washed out.
