Print. Black and white photographic print of a window display which features ladies hair styles available at The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store. A female mannequin stands at the center of the display dressed in a floor-length, A-line gown, with a sweetheart neckline, and fur wrap. She is flanked on her left and right sides of images of ladies with differing swept-up hair styles, and each image includes text about the hair style, which reads from top left to bottom right, "The accent on the 'up' Hairdressers Art at its finest; A beautiful side sweep terminates in an unusual curl effect; 'Birds Nest' How not to wear your hair up; The graceful up and down coiffure; Soft curls and soft waves and a soft upsweep blend, Very Feminine; Approved, American Hair Design Institute." Also, signage in the foreground of the display reads, "The Beauty Salon, Presents newest Versions of the Fashionable Upward Coiffure, From the American Hair Design Institute and Exclusively Hudson's - In Detroit, Seventh Floor, Woodward." The photographic sequence number, and photographer's name are printed on the bottom of the recto, "17884; Davis B. Hillmer."
