Print, Photographic

Black and white photographic print mounted on fabric depicting the inside of the Dressler Kiln at the Champion Porcelain Co.
Caption on verso reads: Dressler Kiln after shut-down in August 1927, after 21 months' continuous oil firing.
East side looking north, with last carborundum chamber section No. 25 removed. Shows oxidation of joint material. Also note the joint material has had a chance to relieve its expansion by bowing in and out, after the joints had widened out. This shows opened joints and leaks must have been there at least part of the time while the kiln was under fire, and that the opening of the joints was not due to the final cooling contraction.
