Caption reads: Final forming of insulator shape. The pressed blanks are given their final external shape. Champion-designed grinding machines form the insulators using special abrasive wheels that have been dressed to shape by diamond tools. This is a critical operation. Shaped blanks must be within tolerances to assure correct dimensions of the finished insulators.
