Sepia-toned photo showing a fire at the Detroit Mill and Supply Company, a 2-story commercial building at 1909 East Ferry Street near Dequindre Street, taken on April 20, 1941. A painted sign on the far right side of the brick building faintly shows "Detroit Mill Supply." The photo shows railroad tracks of the adjacent Lake Shore Junction in the foreground as well as several groups of firemen who are aiming four water jets into the upper windows of the burning building. Large clouds of smoke are billowing from the top of the structure.
