Print, Photographic
Sepia toned photographic print of a drawing of the Grosse Ile Airport, "Owned by Aircraft Development Corporation. Equipped for servicing land planes, amphibians, flying boats and airships." The bottom left corner of the image indicates that the original drawing was "Drawn and Printed by Frederick Crowther." The drawing shows the airport, which was on an island, with the Seaplane Harbor, Naval Reserve, Hickory Island, and Chateau Voyageurs marked. To the left of the island are Trenton and Wyandotte; in the distance is Detroit; to the right is Canada, including Windsor and Amherstburg. Several planes are depicted flying to and from the airport. A hand written note on the back of the print reads as follows:
"Detroit Aircraft Corp. occupied the large dirigible hangar shown as a white spot at bottom circle."
Mounted on linen.
