Photograph. Sepia-toned photo showing underground electrical conduits being constructed beneath a residential street. The view shows an open trench with a duct bank that consists of sections of clay pipe that are being mortared in place. The conduits in the duct bank appear to be arranged 3 horizontally and 5 vertically. A circular form is centered on the trench in the foreground for construction of a manhole. On the left side of the photo, piles of excavated earth, pipe sections, and various construction materials can be seen as well as houses and a sidewalk. A man is standing beside one of the piles of excavated earth. In the center background area, four boys are at play, a man is walking, and a man is standing beside a bicycle. Several construction workers can be seen in the distance. Also on the right are houses as well as stacks of pipe sections, bricks, and other construction materials. Handwritten text on the verso shows "Laying of first electric conduits."
