Black and white photograph taken of Detroit Fire Department firefighters battling a fire at a burning brick building of approximately five stories, presumably on East Jefferson Avenue near Adair Street. Large clouds of smoke obscure most of the scene. A group of firefighters are gathered on the roof of an adjacent party store, however their hoses hide all but part of the building's address on its sign--"3409 E. [...]." Portions of two fire trucks, including the articulating booms of one are visible through the smoke. The upper reaches of the boom have been highlighted in dark grey, retouching presumably done to prepare the photo for publication. The sign for Boyer Tires is posted on a building in the background on the right. Several spectators and a parked car are in the street in the foreground.
