Large black and white photograph of the Detroit Board of Commerce's Grand Award-winning display on fire prevention which was entered into a National Fire Waste Council contest. The display consists of a large board on a stand with the title, "Detroit's Record in 1950, Fire Losses Hit New Low, Here's Why," with an arrow below pointing to a bound report with the title, "In Detroit, Fire Prevention is Everyone's Responsibility." The board also features a chart comparing the city's performance in 1950 to 1949, and a graph showing the number of fires, and damages in dollars for 1946 through 1950. The board also mentions the amount of information about fire prevention printed in newspapers, aired on radio, and television, and shown in movie theaters. A caption on a flap taped to the top of the photo reads, "Detroit Won "Grand Award" for Fire Prevention in 1950. Picture shown is of display entered by the Detroit Board of Commerce. Detroit received the Grand Award over all other cities in the United States for the best accomplishment in fire prevention during 1950.
