Photograph. Sepia-toned photo showing an underground electrical duct bank being mortared in place in the side of a brick manhole. The view looks along the bottom of an excavated trench from the inside of a manhole that is under construction. A duct bank (with conduits that are arranged 3 horizontally and 8 vertically) is visible at the center of the photo. Two vertical string lines can be seen on each side of the duct bank and the bare earth along the sides of the open trench can be seen in the background. Several bricks and two mason's trowels are shown on the right side of the photo. Handwritten text on the verso shows "Laying of first electric lighting conduit."
