Photograph. Sepia-toned glossy photo of a tunnel under construction. The view shows six men who are seated on a small locomotive that is stopped on a narrow-gauge railroad. This railroad is located inside a large-diameter tunnel that appears to be lined with steel or concrete. The large-diameter tunnel is split horizontally with two smaller diameter tunnels being visible in the background. The narrow-gauge railroad continues into the smaller tunnel on the lower lever and a stairway leads to the other tunnel on the upper level. Piles of construction equipment and materials are visible in the left foreground. Handwritten text along the along bottom edge shows "O.C. 1 Tunnel 4-27-'38, Detroit, Mich." and the photo is signed "Sincerely, Larry W. Kruse, 1938." Additional handwritten text on the photo identifies four of the six workmen as: "Harv Kruse, Barney McGraw, Jerry, Sam Sorenson."
