Print, Photographic

Black and white photograph of the back of the Château de Pontchartrain and its garden in Jouars-Pontchartrain, Yvelines. The garden is very simple, with a pathway starting from the archway at the center of the house, splits into three paths. Only grass and a few low hedges on the right of the photograph are the only plant life in the garden. Two statues are visible, one in the foreground, one in the background. The statue in the foreground is facing away from the camera so the back of a naked figure of a man is visible with his right arm behind his back leaning on a pillar for support. The roof of the Chateau is in the Mansard style. Three windows of a one-story wing of the Chateau is visible on the left side of the photograph and then the back section of the three-storied, central part of the Chateau. The main section of the Chateau is shaped like a three-sided rectangle, this back section is the short side. "Michel Desjardins," is handwritten on the verso.
