Mounted sepia-toned photograph of the First Congregational Church of Grand Rapids on Fulton Street where Annette Henry and Russell A. Alger were married April 2, 1861. A note written on the verso reads:
"First Congregational Church of Grand Rapids, Michigan built on Fulton Street two blocks from the Henry homestead.
My grandfather and grandmother Henry and six others formed its first congregation. In it my mother and all my aunts and uncles (Henry) were Christened and later united with it. Rev. H. L. Hammond Pastor.
On April 2, 1861 My father and mother were married here by Rev. S. S. Gowley. It was a double wedding ' Miss Cassie Burs and Mr. Edrom Smith were the other parties. It was the great social event of the town up to that time. My mothers bridesmaids (dressed one in blue, the other in pink) [...] and Mrs. R. Richmond. My fathers [...]"
