Print, Photographic

Sepia-toned photo of the exterior of the Shedd Products Company building on the northwest corner of Dexter Avenue and Doris Street, as viewed from the southeast corner, taken from a photo album of air conditioning installations done by the Detroit Ice Machine Company in 1937. A large sign which reads, "Freeman's Ice Cream. The Cream of Good Taste. Shedd Products Co." is posted atop the corner of the building facing west. The building includes Freeman's Dairy Bar at street level on the corner, as well as garages labeled, "Shedd Products Company," and "Shedd Freeman Dairy Company," on Doris. Signs around the top of the building advertise the company's salad dressing, margarine, and mayonnaise. A sign for Semet-Solvay Coke is visible further north on Doris. "M-2012," is printed near the lower right corner of the photo, corresponding to the description "Oleo & Ice Cream Manufacturers," on the table of contents page (2008.039.003). The photo is mounted on a linen photo album page with a flap on the left hand side with three holes for binding.
