Print, Photographic
Sepia-toned photographic print depicted a view along Griswold Street, north from Fort Street. First Baptist Church, Mechanics' Hall, the McGraw Building--housing Dr. Adam's Cut Rate Dentist and a pharmacy. Capitol Park, and a portion of the rear of City Hall are in view. West Lafayette Boulevard and Michigan Avenue extend to the left. A large Coca-Cola billboard is posted beyond Capitol Park. Electric streetcars, early automobiles, and horse-drawn carriages travel below. In the background to the northwest, signs are visible for the San Telmo Cigar Manufacturing Company, and Summerfield and Heicht. A partial stamp reading "American Photogra, 3 State St. Room, Detroit, Michigan" is on the verso. Tape has been applied around the edges of the verso obscuring portions of the mark. "C.1905-1915" handwritten on verso, although given the number of cars in this scene, the earlier end of this range is doubtful.
