Print, Photographic
Black and white positive copy and sepia-toned print negative depicting storefronts in the Barns's Block and adjacent buildings, near Woodward Avenue and Grand River Avenue. Signs for E.H. Huff, Carpenter and Jobber; Randall, Photographer; William H. Jennings Boots and Shoes (with a sign reading "The Peoples One-Price Boot and Shoe Store" on the sidewalk); Kirchberg, Winterhalter, and Lederle, successors to P. Hufnagel and Company Furniture; and J.D. Munst, doctor. Chairs, tables, and bedframes are displayed on the sidewalk. Four children sit among the wares. The positive is smaller and has been cropped slightly on its left edge. The colors of the negative are washed out, and it lacks detail in darker areas compared to the positive. "Joseph Klima Jr. Photographer, 5200 Woodward Avenue, Detroit 2, Michigan, TEmple 1-0360" stamped on verso.
