Sepia-toned copy of a photographic print depicting an eastward view along Gratiot Avenue, from Woodward. Several businesses are visible along Woodward, including a doctor, a dentist, A. Armstrong the Finney, M. Hutchinson and Company Millinery, and J.H. Black and Company Carpets and Curtains. The First Congregational Church on Gratiot at Farmer Street can also be seen. The original photo appears to have been photographed to produce this copy, as some of its border is visible. The facades of A. Armstrong's and the building to its right appear to have been inserted from a different photograph, as its awnings and the streetcar tracks do not line up. "1870s" handwritten on verso.
