Print, Photographic
Black and white photographic print reproduced on heavy cardstock depicting the Michigan Central Railroad yard along Third Street near the riverfront as viewed from an elevated position facing east. Stacks of lumber are piled along the bottom edge of the photo. A large dome-topped roundhouse stands in the center of the image. To its south are rows of railroad tracks. Signs for Jackson and Wiley, Founders and Machinists; Duncan's Central Ale and Porter Brewery; Moore, Foote, and Company are visible among the rooftops in the background. Several sailing ships are in the Detroit River, and the stack of a steamer sticks out from behind one of the riverside railroad buildings. A steeple, likely that of St. Paul's Episcopal Church is in the distance, as is Belle Isle.
