Sepia-toned photo of ten firemen who are getting dressed after being roused by a night alarm. The fire station sleeping quarters (with beds) can be seen in the background. Handwriting on the verso notes, "511 W. Hilldale, Det. 3, Agnes Cooney" and also "Chief Martin Cooney, Supt. of Horses,1895." The name of the photo studio, "John Forster & Son," is stamped in blue ink on the verso.
